The space of the café “Sportsmen” in Malevich Park is an interior-painting inspired by the canvases of the legendary avant-garde artist.
Even though the starting point of the concept of the interior of the Sportsmen cafe was the work of Kazimir Malevich, the studio managed to avoid obvious decorative techniques and pictorial clichés associated with the name of this famous artist. The creative energy of prominent representatives of Soviet innovative artists is encoded in architectural and decorative elements.
The unique graffiti inspired by the textile graphics of Lyubov Popova is organically woven into the "Sun" suit by Mikhail Larionov in its daring and trendy version, where a kokoshnik is complemented by an ultra-fashionable hoodie. There is also furniture made according to drawings by Nikolai Suetin, and a sculpture-lamp which is a three-dimensional version of a composition by Ilya Chashnik.
The interior of the Sportsmen cafe is a materialized art object, a tribute to the heritage of the avant-garde with a bright and strong, but at the same time, democratic character. Full of light, color and greenery, this space is a perfect pit stop spot for active visitors of Malevich Park.
