Osteria

The Italians are perhaps unparalleled in their talent for transforming any meal into a celebration of life. They don't abide by the notion of snacking on the go; for them, dining is an art form because they understand that it's not just about what we eat, but how we eat it.

For those whose lives march to the frenetic beat of the metropolis, regularity and leisurely hedonism have become rare luxuries. In pursuit of this, we recommend slipping away from the noisy streets of Moscow into the courtyards of Chistoprudny Boulevard, where the Osteria restaurant offers a haven from the city's hustle and bustle—a teleportation to a warm town by the Adriatic Sea.

Following the traditional meaning of the name ("osteria" in Italian denotes a local eatery where one can enjoy food and wine), we have infused the space with a sense of freedom, embracing the dual nature of the restaurant: you can pop in for brunch in your pyjamas or return in the evening for a date. The slightly rough-hewn interior is designed to evolve, captivating guests with its suggestive ambiguity—the hidden symbols in the original paintings adorning the walls are extremely intriguing.

Charming details have helped to evoke the spirit of a family gathering, an essential aspect of Italian culture—wooden arched windows, checkered tablecloths and curtains, ceiling fans, and a deliberately eclectic decor, as if assembled from a grandmother's attic.

The photographs decorating the walls tell a story of their own. We acquired them from an elderly lady whose mother, an architect, once travelled across Italy photographing cityscapes. These images have now been given a new lease of life, adding warmth and authenticity to the space. And Osteria itself, standing in stark contrast to the polished perfection of meticulously designed interiors, feels like a film frame in an era of Photoshop.
